Our Games

  • But they’re the Villian! — Take any book or movie and make the hero the villain.

  • Ex: The Matrix where Neo is a dangerous revolutionary trying to upset the delicate artificial balance that keeps humans from going extinct on a world that can’t sustain them.

  • In Space !!! -- Add 'In Space' to any book or movie and quickly tell us what the plot is.

  • Ex: Lord of the Rings -- In Space!!! Two short aliens stumble on precursor tech that corrupts the minds of anyone it comes in contact with. They have to hop from space station to space station while war is in full swing to drop the tech into a black hole before it can corrupt them.

  • Time of your life - Retell an experience from your life in the genera of your choice.

  • Ex: Retelling Megan's quest to get a CS degree as a sports movie a la Hoosiers or A League of Their Own.

  • Squeaky Clean - 'Reboot' a gritty book or movie to remove the grit.

  • Ex: Game of Thrones as the D&D campaign of a bunch of edgy preteens and the DM who has to deal with their shenanigans.

  • Trope Nope - Tell a story trying to avoid at least one common trope.

  • Ex: The knight fights the evil dragon to save the princess, but it turns out the princess manipulates both the knight and dragon to fight because it amuses her. The combatants discover they have more in common and begin dating.

  • Character Mash – Take two characters, at least one MUST be from pop culture, and mash their stories together.

  • Ex: Dr. Strange + Dr. Moreau. A brilliant doctor peruses the arcane arts to create horrific abominations in his quest to perfect the transformation of animal to human with the intent of eventually ascending humans to gods.

  • Drop it – Drop a single letter from the title of a book or movie. Tell us what the new plot is.

  • Ex: Jurassic Word: One man's fight to resurrect Sanskrit as a spoken language. He starts an island full of orphans and only teaches them Sanskrit. He then invites linguists from all over the world to observe and see what he's done. When the kids find out there is a world outside the island, they revolt.
